Paramedic praised for kindness, compassion

-

I would like to tell you about the kindness of a Lethbridge paramedic that I observed on Canada Day. I live in Calgary but was visiting my sister in Claresholm.

I was in the Emergency Department of the Claresholm Hospital with a family member. While we were there a lady was brought into the Emergency Department. These two Lethbridge paramedics were returning from Calgary and received a call and responded to an emergency in Claresholm. Just after the lady was brought in, one of the paramedics came walking by with a little chihuahua on a leash walking behind him. His owner was the person brought in by the ambulance, and lived alone, so the paramedics brought the little dog with them to the hospital.

What prompted me to write this letter is that just shortly after that I saw the paramedic walking past me and he had the tiny dog in his arms and was petting the dog’s head as it was scared. Even though it was the dog’s human that was the emergency, this kind paramedic had great compassion for this frightened little dog.

The little dog was eventually passed over to a dog shelter in Claresholm, but he comforted the little dog until they came. The compassion he showed will remain with me forever and if I ever need a paramedic, I hope I get one just like this great kind man. Lethbridge should be very proud to have this paramedic serve their community.
