Bulls blast Bombers

- LETHBRIDGE HERALD

On this night, the runs weren’t hard to come by for the Lethbridge Bulls.

The Bulls handed the Brooks Bombers a lopsided 16-1 setback in Western Major Baseball League play Thursday night in Brooks as Bulls third baseman Dylan Borman enjoyed a two-home run, sixRBI night.

Playing a makeup game from a rained out game last month, the Bulls made amends for a 9-0 loss to the Bombers Wednesday night at Spitz Stadium in a game halted after eight innings due to rain to earn the road win that improves Lethbridge to 16-23 this season.

On Thursday, the Bulls grabbed a 2-0 lead after the first inning and went up 3-0 after the fifth.

They put the game out of reach in the sixth inning with seven runs and plated another six in the eighth inning for the convincing win.

The Bulls had 17 hits, led by three-hit performanes from Kaleb Warden and Borman.

Warden was 3-for-6 with three runs scored and two RBI and Warden batted 3-for-6 and scored two runs to go along with his two round-trippers and six RBI.

Ashton Roy was 2-for-6 with two runs scored and two RBI and designated hitter Jesse Hilyard was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and one RBI.

Dustin Braun was 2-for-5 with two runs scored.

Bryce Oriold-Fraser earned the win for the Bulls with a 13strikeout performance, throwing seven innings and allowing one run on three hits and walking two.

The Bulls return home for a key three-night stand against the Fort McMurray Giants starting tonight at 7 at Spitz Stadium in a battle for the fourth-and-final playoff spot in the Western Division.

The Giants (15-24) defeated the Regina Red Sox 8-3 Thursday and are one game back of the Bulls. The teams play again Saturday at 7 p.m. and at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
