Gospel jamboree returns to Granum

Annual familyfrie­ndly event goes July 27-29

Asummertim­e music tradition for more than 20 years returns to Granum next weekend. The 2018 edition of the annual Willow Creek Gospel Music Jamboree is set for July 27-29 at Granview Park in Granum. This year’s performers include Keepers of the Faith, the Trudel Family (2016 SCMA Entertaine­rs of the Year), Joyful Melody Trio, the Taito Family Singers, and the Fort Macleod Alliance Worship Band.

Darrel Janz returns to host the event, which features free admission, though donations are welcome.

Keepers of the Faith are a Southern Gospel quartet based in Puyallup, Wash. After beginning as a prison ministry, the group has been operating for over 15 years. The Taito Family Singers, associated with Keepers of the Faith Ministry, also hail from Puyallup, Wash.

The Trudel Family are a bluegrass and classic country band, and were named Saskatchew­an Country Music Associatio­n Entertaine­rs of the Year in 2016. The Joyful Melody Trio, based in Barrhead, Alta., are a Southern Gospel Trio that has been together since 2002.

The fun begins on the Friday evening with a chili supper at 5 p.m., with the opening concert to start at 7 p.m. featuring the Fort Macleod Alliance Worship Band, Keepers of the Faith, the Taito Family Singers, the Trudel Family, then Keepers of the Faith again.

Saturday’s schedule kicks off with the concession serving breakfast starting at 9 a.m. (burritos available).

The morning concert begins at 10 a.m., featuring the Joyful Melody Trio, the Trudel Family and the Taito Family Singers.

Following lunch, available at the concession, the afternoon concert gets underway at 1 p.m., with the lineup featuring the Fort Macleod Alliance Worship Band, the Trudel Family, the Joyful Melody Trio, Keepers of the Faith, the Taito Family Singers, and the Trudel Family again.

From 5 to 6:30 p.m., a beefon-a-bun supper will be served at the Homesteade­r. Then the evening concert takes the stage at 6:30 p.m., with the schedule including the Fort Macleod Alliance Worship Band, the Taito Family Singers, the Trudel Family, Joyful Melody Trio and Keepers of the Faith.

As a service to families with children, there will be a oneday Vacation Bible School held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., for kids ages 6 to 12. It will be held in the Homesteade­r.

Sunday will feature a free pancake breakfast from 8 to 9 a.m., compliment­s of the Granum Christian Reformed Church. The Fort Macleod Alliance Worship Band will perform at 9 to 9:30 a.m. They will be followed by an interdenom­inational worship from 10 to 11 a.m., featuring music by Keepers of the Faith and guest speaker Brother Ace.
