United Way to fund 14 agencies
The Lethbridge and South Western Alberta United Way welcomed 14 new partner agencies at the Culver City Room at city hall following its annual general meeting on Tuesday.
“We’re definitely excited moving forward,” said Janelle MariettaVasquez, director of fund development and operations with the United Way. “The momentum is definitely in the works and we’re excited to see a lot of support from the board and our allocations committee bringing on 14 new organizations this year to fund. It has been a huge success for us and we are quite excited to see what happens going forward.”
The agencies welcomed included: the Chinook Regional Foundation for Career Transitions, CariBridge and Kinsmen Club of Lethbridge, CNIB, Foothills SNAPS, Fort Macleod Kids First Family Centre, Frontier College, Inclusion Lethbridge, Interfaith Food Bank Society, John Howard Society of Lethbridge, Lethbridge Food Bank Society, MS Society of Lethbridge, Red Crow Community College, Upper Victoria Park and Volunteer Lethbridge and Wood’s Homes.
The United Way will support a diverse group of programs and needs with the agencies, including CariBridge’s Caribbean Carnival 2019, the Lethbridge Food Bank’s Mindful Munchies Program and the Wood’s Homes Lethbridge Youth Shelter to allow for extended hours of service, just to name a few examples.
According to the United Way, the organization received 44 applications for program funding this year; the most it has ever received.
