Junior Bulls blank Team Atlantic

Lethbridge Junior Bulls improved to 2-1 at the Canadian Junior Little League baseball championsh­ips with a 15-0 victory over Team Atlantic at Spitz Stadium Tuesday night.

Braeden Sheppard finished twofor-two and drove in four runs for the Bulls, who scored three runs in the first inning and added six in the second. Six runs in the fourth ended the scoring.

Zayne Wittke went three-forthree with three runs scored, while Shaye McTavish, Brock Barnett and Tyson Johnson all had two hits.

Sheppard, Johnson and Nathan Ritchie combined on a one-hitter in the four-inning win. Team Atlantic fell to 1-2. In the first game of the day, Alberta representa­tive Medicine Hat picked up its first victory in three games with a 13-1 victory over winless B.C.

Alberta scored 10 runs in the third inning to open a 13-0 lead and the game was called in the fifth inning on the 10-run rule.

Kayden Hleucka was three-forthree with a home run and seven RBI for the winners, while Evan Morrison was four-for-four with three runs scored. Jack Didack had two hits, and Kevan Schafer pitched a five-inning two-hitter.

In the second game, Quebec scored three runs in each of the first two innings and rolled to a 16-3 victory over Ontario.

Quebec (3-0) added eight runs in the fourth en route to the 10-run rule victory.

Stefano Paolucci was three-forfour with three RBI for the winners. Louis-Felix Anderson had two hits and three RBI, Thomas Landry was two-for-four with two runs scored and two RBI, and Alex Blais had two hits and scored three runs.

Ontario (1-1) was held without a hit, but scored three runs thanks to 14 walks.

In games today at Spitz Stadium, Quebec plays B.C. at noon, Alberta faces Atlantic at 3:30 p.m., and the Junior Bulls play Ontario at 7 p.m.
