Three people charged last week following a stabbing downtown made their first appearance in Lethbridge court Tuesday.

The accused, Tia Ronel Bare Shin Bone, Keith Leonard Long Time Squirrel and Nicholas Blaine Heavy Runner, appeared by closed-circuit TV from the Lethbridge Correctional Centre, where they have been remanded since their arrests Friday.

At 3:10 p.m. that day police were called to the 300 block of 7 Street South after receiving a report that a man had been stabbed. The victim was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

About four hours later police were called to the 600 block of 3 Avenue South after another man had been stabbed. The man was transported to the Chinook Regional Hospital and treated for his injuries, as well.

Police reported the victims in both incidents knew their assailants and were specifically targeted.

Long Time Squirrel, 31, is charged with one count of aggravated assault, two counts of assault with a weapon, one count of assault causing bodily harm and two counts of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public.

Heavy Runner, 23, and Bare Shin Bone, 29, are each charged with one count of assault.

Duty counsel represented the three accused Tuesday during their brief court appearance. They are seeking lawyers through Legal Aid and have been remanded in custody. Bare Shin Bone and Heavy Runner return to court Friday, while Long Time Squirrel returns Aug. 17.

All three accused have been ordered to avoid any contact with each other and with the assault victims.
