The City has announced road closures around construction taking place along Fifth Avenue South.

Two road closures were announced on Monday as part of construction surrounding the new Lethbridge Regional Park ‘n’ Ride Transit Terminal and the Fifth Avenue South watermain renewal.

Effective Monday, there is a road closure in the 400 block of 7 Street South so crews can continue to work on the 5 Avenue South watermain renewal project.

Starting Monday, Aug. 20, the 400 block of 8 Street will be closed so crews can move blocks of precast concrete into the Lethbridge Regional Park ‘n’ Ride Transit Terminal site.

A detour between 8 Street and Stafford Drive will be set up to allow for business access.

Both roads are expected to reopen by Aug. 27. Access to businesses will be maintained but through traffic will not be permitted. Parking in this area is reduced to allow for construction.

Motorists are advised to drive with caution in these areas and follow posted detours.

Work is expected to wrap up on 5 Avenue South later this week and the road will reopen to traffic.
