• Lethbridge Centennial Quilters Guild has partnered with area quilt shops to accept donations up to the third week of August, of handmade quilts/quilting supplies for families affected by floods in Grand Forks, B.C. • Lethbridge Senior Citizens Organizati­on offers Beginner Pickleball Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 3-4:50 p.m. at the LSCO, 500 11 St. S. A few paddles are available for use. • Alberta Birds of Prey Centre in Coaldale will host “Insect Discovery Day” April 18 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. (centre will be open regular hours, 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m.). Visitors and especially children will have the opportunit­y to see, catch and identify a variety of wild local insects, assisted by bug scientists from the Alberta Entomology Society. Activities include: pond dipping; butterfly catching; view displays of other strange bugs from around the world; you can even bring your own backyard bugs from home for expert identifica­tion. • Farming Smarter will host its third annual Open Farm Day adventure Aug. 18 from 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Farming Smarter site located on Jail Road, 2.6 km east of Lethbridge. Featuring opportunit­ies to learn, climb on farm equipment, tour active research plots and enjoy fresh Taber corn at the barbecue. There will be crafts, games, face painting, bug battles and wagon rides at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Also featuring local vendors selling products including sausage, honey and vegetables. • The 7th Annual Lethbridge Electronic Music Festival will take place Aug. 18 from 11 a.m.-11 p.m. at Galt Gardens in downtown Lethbridge. Featuring 3 stages and 30 acts spanning a multitude of genres of electronic music. Free admission. Will include 10 artisan vendors, 5 food trucks, beer garden, a Kids Zone with air jump, face painting, dancers and live graffiti art. After the event, the fun continues at the Official LEMF After Party at Club Lime from 11 p.m.-2:30 a.m. The After Party is a ticketed 18+ event featuring a takeover from the Fozzy Fest crew out of Calgary. • Galt Historic Railway Park will offer Speeder Rides and Tours Aug. 18 and Aug. 25 (weather permitting) from 13:30 p.m. $10 per person (children 10 and under free with adult) for a combined tour of the 1890 Internatio­nal Train Station and a ride on the restored speeder motorcar. • Catalyst Cookout – Whoop-Up Days Steak Barbecue will be held Aug. 24 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in the 200 block of Mayor Magrath Drive North, just south of the SACLA building (401 21A St. N.). Steak, corn on the cob, baked potato and a drink for $8. Add an extra steak for $4. The Lethbridge Chamber of Commerce will also be handing out freezies for Freezie Friday.

• A Whoop-Up Days Barbecue will be held Aug. 24 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at BMO West Highlands, 4 - 378 University Dr. W. Serving burger and pop for $5, cheeseburg­er and pop $6, hotdog and pop $4, pop $1.50. Proceeds will be donated to United Way.

• Interfaith Food Bank will present a new program, “The Gardener and the Chef,” Aug. 24, Aug. 30 and Sept. 7 from 6-8 p.m. in the Interfaith Learning Garden at 1103 3 Ave. N. Learn how to grow plants on a budget and then cook your harvest into delicious, inexpensiv­e meals. Attendance is free; donations gratefully accepted.
