Lethbridge dancers are being invited to join friends from Medicine Hat for a combined show here later this fall.

The Nov. 24 performance, scheduled for the Yates Centre, is being organized by Krista Vandermeulen and Lindsay Perry. They’re owners of Tone Fitness and Dance Ltd. in Medicine Hat — and they’ve presented belly dancing there since 2003.

Recognizing there are active groups in Lethbridge, they are hoping women here will be part of the show as well.

“The very nature of belly dance is that it is inclusive, it unites women,” Perry says.

“It only made sense to invite Lethbridge dancers to share the stage with us.”

Earlier this year, she adds, Medicine Hat dancers staged a “Belly dance Spectacular” at the Esplanade in response to community requests. Featuring 14 different choreographed numbers, along with costumes and props, the show was performed by about 20 women.

“We created the show and were overwhelmed at our success,” Perry reports.

This fall won’t the first time Lethbridge and Medicine Hat dancers have performed together, she points out. They collaborated back in 2005, as part of Alberta’s centennial year celebrations.

Tickets for the Yates performance will be available from Ticket Centre locations at the Enmax Centre and the Yates.
