A Lethbridge woman accused of beating her 87-year-old grandfather had her bail revoked Thursday, but she still hopes to be released from custody a second time.

Stacey Leigh Carlson is charged with breaching conditions of a recognizance on which she was placed when she was released from custody following a bail hearing in August. The accused was subsequently picked up for an alleged breach, and Thursday after a lengthy revocation hearing in Lethbridge provincial court, the judge revoked her original bail.

That doesn’t mean she’ll remain in custody, however. A second bail hearing was held immediately following Carlson’s revocation, but Judge Jerry LeGrandeur reserved his decision until Tuesday. A publication ban prohibits disclosing details of the alleged breach.

During her bail hearing in August, Carlson was ordered to report to the Lethbridge Police Service once a week, not consume any drugs or alcohol unless prescribed by a medical professional, and not be in the Town of Taber unless she is attending court or passing through on Highway 3.

Carlson, 28, is charged with break and enter, robbery, assault with a weapon and aggravated assault stemming from an incident in Taber during the summer.

Taber police were called to a residence in the 5800 block of 52 Street in Taber at about 1:20 a.m. July 11, where they found an 87year-old man who had been severely beaten and robbed. The man was transported to Taber hospital and later to Chinook Regional Hospital.

Heinrich Froese, 22, was also charged in relation to the incident. He also had an earlier bail hearing but was remanded in custody.
