No kidding: Goat yoga draws a crowd
LCSA OFFERS GOAT YOGA ON CAMPUS
The Lethbridge College Students Association invited the public back to the campus on Sunday for an interesting wind down after Saturday’s Coulee Fest, with a session of goat yoga in the courtyard.
In the chilly weather of Sunday morning, 35 people registered to get their yoga-flow on, with the assistance of 12 goats and a small pot belly pig. Lethbridge College Students' Association events and communication co-ordinator, Tanner Marcer, says it is a unique and fun way to involve people on the campus.
“We decided to have it because it is a pretty popular activity that is going on right now,” says Marcer. “We thought it would be a really good opportunity to do goat yoga the day after Coulee Fest. We have a lot of yoga programs that we have run with campus recreation for a few years so putting the two together seemed like a good idea and it seemed to work out so far.”
The goats and pig ran around the grounds and through the people as they switched between poses, leaving them laughing and loving the experience. Snuggles were not uncommon at the event, along with a goat head popping up underneath you while you did a downward dog position.
“I think it will be a little bit challenging,” says Yzzi Forbes, goat yoga participant. “I have heard of goat yoga before but it is really cool to be with the animals and have a really cool experience.”
The new entertaining way to relax and stretch out your muscles was a popular event for Lethbridge College, and organizers say, judging by the success of their first goat yoga class, they are expecting to have many more sessions in the years to come,
