U of L career fair opens doors to the future
The University of Lethbridge held its 29th annual Career Fair Wednesday afternoon to allow students to spread their connections through businesses and decide their future career paths.
Career Fair brought out 99 different businesses, school professional programs and employers with professional designations onto the First Choice Savings running track, for students to run around and look at the options available within their school and community.
“It fills the students with hope,” says Jennifer EllisToddington, manager of Counseling and Career Services. “We are here to help find our career path and this will give us the basis for future endeavours whether that be graduate school or getting a career right after finishing your degree at the U of L.”
The opportunity to connect brought over 1,800 students from across campus to explore their options. Career options such as first responders, economic development and sustainability and further education options opened up to students for possibilities and even some offering jobs to future graduates.
“I think that fills them with purpose for being here and redirects their vision,” says EllisToddington. ”It’s great to make actual connections and network as well depending where you are at in your degree. Some people even hire people at the career fair so it is wonderful and interesting for students.”
Celebrating the future careers of its students, the University of Lethbridge hopes to help build the paths of their graduates and find their future endeavours. The university will be hosting a summer job fair to help students find summer jobs and future opportunities on Feb. 6, on campus.
