Comets and Rams maintain rankings

Prior to their big showdown Friday, the Raymond Comets and LCI Rams football teams have maintained their spots in the Football Alberta Tier I rankings.

After their 28-3 win over the Cardston Cougars Friday night in Cardston, the Comets remain at number 4 in the Tier I rankings, while the Rams stay at number seven following their 50-7 win over the Winston Churchill Bulldogs Thursday at the University of Lethbridge Stadium.

The 3-1 Rams and 3-0 Comets will square off in Southern Alberta High School Football League Division A play Friday night at 7 p.m. at Comets Stadium in Raymond.

Meanwhile in the Tier IV division, the Taber W.R. Myers Rebels have taken over top spot thanks to a 43-10 SAHSFL Division B win over the Chinook Coyotes Friday night at the U of L Stadium. The win puts the Rebels at 40 as the team gets set to host the Pincher Creek Mustangs in SAHSFL Division B play Friday night at 7 p.m.

In Tier II, the Catholic Central Cougars (2-2) have cracked the top-10 thanks to their 26-21 win over the Claresholm Willow Creek Cobras Friday night in Claresholm that puts the Cougars in 10th.

Catholic Central plays the Bulldogs in SAHSFL Division A play Friday night at the U of L Stadium at 7:30 p.m.

With the loss, the Cobras are 2-1 and move from first in Tier IV to third and have a bye this weekend.

Despite their loss to the Comets, Cardston (1-2) moves up from sixth to fifth in the Tier III rankings. They play Olds in exhibition play Saturday at 5 p.m. in Cardston.
