Lethbridge organizations looking to put on public events or festivals downtown will have until Oct. 31 to submit their applications for the 2019 Heart of Our City Activity Grant. Eligible organizations can receive up to $1,000 in direct grants or up to $10,000 on a matching grant basis.

“The big criteria is project benefit in its level of support for the Heart of Our City vision,” says Andrew Malcolm, urban revitalization manger with the City of Lethbridge.

“We will also look at the magnitude of the event and whether it is accessible to all residents in the community, and whether it is sustainable. So is this a oneoff event or is something which could actually be put on year after year in the downtown?”

Malcolm says the Heart of Our City committee is looking to be inspired by the applications.

“What we are looking for is the event creates positive activity,” explains Malcolm, “something which accessible to all residents community, and something which is lively and really brings a positive atmosphere to the downtown.”

Application forms for the Heart of Our City Activity Grants are now available online at www.lethbridge.ca/HOCactivitygrant, and can be submitted electronically to andrew.malcolm@lethbridge.ca.

The City sponsored a grant information night at city hall on Thursday for those who needed assistance preparing their application forms.
