Pronghorns add Moncks

-

The University of Lethbridge Pronghorns women’s basketball team has added some all-Canadian calibre talent.

On Monday, the Horns announced the addition of former Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference Player of the Year Logan Moncks.

The Pronghorns tip off their Canada West season Friday when they host the Grant MacEwan Griffins Friday and Saturday at the 1st Choice Savings Centre.

"We are excited to add Logan to our Pronghorns program this season,” said Interim head coach Dave Waknuk in a release. “Logan has been extremely successful with every program she has been a part of and we are thrilled to be adding someone of Logan's high character and skill set to our Horns team this year.”

Moncks was already attending the University of Lethbridge but didn’t join the team until a couple of weeks ago.

Hailing from Cardston, Moncks was part of the 201617 Lethbridge College Kodiaks women’s basketball team that went a perfect 21-0 in ACAC play en route to the provincial and Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association championship titles.

She was also named a CCAA All-Canadian, CCAA National Championship First Team All-Star and ACAC South Division First Team All-Star that season.

During that season, Moncks, a five-foot-11 forward, was second in ACAC scoring, averaging 22.6 points per game along with 5.8 rebounds a game.

She also played two seasons with the SAIT Trojans and was named the 2013-14 ACAC Rookie of the Year.
