Galata Ministries will give people a “Taste of Ethiopia” and a look at the work the organization is doing in South Omo, Ethiopia.

The “Taste of Ethiopia” dinner returns Nov. 16 to raise funds for Galata Ministries’ ongoing efforts to assist the people of the South Omo region of Ethiopia through assorted humanitarian projects. The dinner will take place at 6 p.m. at Central Church of Christ, 716 23 St. N. The dinner will feature authentic Ethiopian cuisine (along with beef-on-a-bun).

Dinner will be followed by an update on Galata’s accomplishments in South Omo, and the evening will include musical entertainment by Barb Marchuk. Galata Ministries will also be seeking support for future projects including the goal of sending more than 50 Sawyer water filters to help with the need for clean water. Each water filter (including shipping) costs close to $100 and can clean up to 360 gallons of water a day. The Sawyer water filter is simple to use and maintain, and can last more than 10 years.

Galata personnel have seen first-hand the benefits providing clean water, which results in numerous health benefits such as combating eye disease and reducing the death rate from stomach diseases.

There is free admission to the “Taste of Ethiopia” dinner. Call 403-380-9154 for reservations.
