College opens its doors to prospective future students

OPEN HOUSE ATTRACTS MORE THAN 600 STUDENTS

- Tim Kalinowski LETHBRIDGE HERALD

Lethbridge College’s open house event was all about exploring possibilities for the over 600 students who came out on Thursday, said LC recruitment and events coordinator Jessica Quarterman.

“This is a way to get students excited about what we offer here,” she explained. “We do have applications available today for students; so if they are wanting to come and apply on the spot, they can. But for the most part, it’s just a day to explore and get a good feel for what we have here.”

Thursday’s open house was one of the biggest Lethbridge College has seen in recent years, with a wide variety of students on hand exploring program options, confirmed Quarterman.

“Open house is a really great opportunity for any student considering going into postsecondary,” Quarterman stated. “So a high school student, a mature student, or anyone who is looking to go to college.”

Cardston High School student Jade Macdonnell was one of those potential future students at the open house. Macdonnell said she hoped to pursue a career in medicine when she graduates, but hasn’t decided on which postsecondary institution she hope to attend yet. She, like many who came out, is looking for an academic home where she feels comfortable attending. She liked what she was seeing at Lethbridge College on Thursday.

“I am more of trying to get feel for the college, and seeing if Lethbridge College fits for me,” she confirmed. “So far it feels good, but I am just looking around today and exploring options.”

The next Lethbridge College open house event takes place in February.
