Pronghorns back in action

Three of the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns teams are on the road this weekend.

The exception is the Horns’ men’s hockey team, who drop the puck on a twogame homestand against the Manitoba Bisons in Canada West play tonight at 7 p.m. at Nicholas Sheran Arena.

The Pronghorns women’s team heads to Winnipeg for two-game set against the Bisons, while the Horns men’s and women’s basketball teams are in Kelowna tonight and Saturday to take on the UBC Okanagan Heat.

The Pronghorns men’s hockey team (2-6-0), look to end a four-game skid.

Horns goaltender Garret Hughson and Taz Burman are in the top-10 in save percentage.

Freshman Landon Gross leads the Pronghorns with three goals.

The Horns women (3-4-01) come into the weekend off a 2-0 sweep of the Calgary Dinos.

The Pronghorns and Bisons face off tonight at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 1 p.m. local time.

Fourth-year Horns forward Tricia Van Vaerenberg­h is tied for the conference lead in goals with five and sits tied for fourth in Canada West scoring with seven points.

Goaltender Alicia Anderson leads Canada West with three shutouts and total saves with 235.

The Pronghorns basketball teams head to B.C. looking to build on 2-0 starts to the season.

Fourth-year guard Kacie Bosch had 11 points in the first half in the weekend opener against the MacEwan Griffins before leaving with an injury and added 17 in the second game.

On the men’s side, Mike Pierzchala averaged 21.5 points in the first two games. Zac Overwater has averaged 18.5 points per game and is fifth in Canada West rebounding with 9.5 rebounds per game.

The women’s game is 7 p.m. local time tonight with the men following at 9 p.m.
