1A, 2A zone playoffs set

The playoff rounds for the South Zone 1A and 2A boys and girls volleyball championsh­ips at the Val Matteotti Gymnasium are set.

In the 1A girls bracket, the Stirling Lakers will take on the Pincher Creek St. Michael’s Dragons at 10 a.m. in the first quarter-final, while the Foremost Forettes face the Bow Island Senator Gershaw Gators at 11:15 a.m.

The Lakers went 2-1 in the round-robin, while the Dragons were 1-2.

The winner of that game will advance to play the 3-0 Picture Butte Sugar Queens at 12:30 p.m.

Senator Gershaw was 2-1 in the round-robin and Foremost was 1-2. The winner of their game takes on Milk River Erle Rivers Novas in the other semi at 1:45 p.m.

The Novas were 3-0 in the round-robin.

In 2A girls the quarter-finals are also set, starting with the Immanuel Christian Eagles (31) taking on the Fort Macleod F.P. Walshe Flyers (3-1) at 10 a.m., followed by Taber St. Mary’s Auroras (3-1) clashing with the Coaldale Kate Andrews Pride (2-2).

The winner between the Eagles and and the Flyers will play the Magrath Pandas (3-1) in the semifinals at 12:30 p.m., while the winner of the Auroras and Pride ace Vauxhall Queens (4-0) at 1:45 p.m.

In 1A boys, the Brant Christian Eagles (1-1) and the Bow Island St. Michael’s Bears (0-2) kick things off in the first quarter-final at 10 a.m., followed by the Nobleford Noble Central Blades (1-1) and the Picture Butte Sugar Kings (0-2) at 11:15 a.m.

The winner between the Eagles and Bears will play Pincher Creek St. Michael’s (2-0) at 12:30 p.m. Senator Gershaw (2-0) will face the winner of the Blades/Sugar Kings game at 1:45 p.m.
