• University of Lethbridge presents Student Pixel Exhibition 2018 — Disconnection, Nov. 23, 6 p.m., to Nov.
26, 4 p.m. at the Penny Gallery, Dr. Foster James Penny Building, 324 5 St. S. This annual student show features a broad array of digital works, including digital art, short animations, digital fabrication, photography and programs. This year’s theme is disconnection. Opening reception goes from 6 to 8 p.m. At 8 p.m., LAMPS, one of southern Alberta’s premier amateur short film festivals, gets underway, showcasing short films from students and local artists. • Christmas Craft Show will take place Nov. 23 from 5-9 p.m. and Nov. 24 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at All Saints Parish Hall Assumption Church, 2405 12 Ave. S. $1 entrance fee with complimentary coffee and juice. • Rehoboth Christian Ministries and The Sunshine Auxiliary will host their annual Pancake Breakfast & Poinsettia Sale Nov. 24 at the Rehoboth Greenhouses in Coaldale. • University of Lethbridge presents “Masculinity and Advocacy for Reproductive Health in Kenya,” Nov. 24, 10-11:30 a.m. at PB210, Dr. Foster James Penny Building, 324 5 St. S. Jacklyne Cheruiyot, a master of arts candidate in the Department of Women & Gender Studies, will discuss her research into masculinity and how it affects reproductive health in Kenya. • Christmas Tea and Bazaar will be held Nov. 24 from 2-4 p.m. at Southminster United Church, 1011 4 Ave S. (enter by 11 Street doors). Featuring finger sandwiches and dainties presented on fine china amid a beautiful festive setting. Also baking, crafts, jewelry, attic treasures and Christmas surprises. Tickets $10, available at the door. • The Coaldale Public Library Friends Society will hold its 6th Annual Handmade For Christmas Craft and Bake Sale Nov. 24 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Coaldale Public Library, 2014 18th St. in Coaldale. A book sale will also take place in the library basement. Free admission. • Coaldale United Church Thrift Shop (2022 18 St.) will have a special preChristmas opening Nov. 24 from 9 a.m.– 3 p.m. Featuring a table with home baking, as well as jars of carrot pudding and soup mix (great for gift giving) as well. Thrift shop operates as a service to the community. • Helen Schuler Nature Centre’s Junior Naturalists program for ages 6-10 will continue Nov. 24 from 10 a.m.-noon, taking place offsite at Pavan Park. Adults must sign children in and pick them up promptly at noon.
• Galt Museum’s Saturdays at 1:00 hands-on history event for children to attend with adults continues Nov. 24 from 1-2 p.m., featuring “Movember.” Learn about the historical southern Alberta figures who have rocked the moustache by going on a moustache tour of discovery hall. Make a craft and take a picture in our moustache photo booth. Registration not required. Museum admission applies (free to annual pass holders). • Helen Schuler Nature Centre will host Extreme By Nature (ages 11-15) Nov. 24 from 1:30-3:30 p.m., featuring “Green Wrapping.” Join Allyson Racz from the City’s Waste & Recycling department and learn how you can reduce waste by upcycling packaging for gifts. Society will meet Nov. 26 at 7 p.m. at the Lethbridge Public Library Theatre Gallery. Speaker Lyndon Penner will discuss “The Winter Garden for Albertans.” The presentation will celebrate all that the plant kingdom has to offer even in the coldest months, with a look at using conifers and other evergreens, interesting seedheads, plants that retain their shape, as well as brightly coloured bark, twigs, berries, and even thorns.
