The Young Single Adults of the Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints present their play, A Christmas Carol, being performed this week at the YSA Stake Centre.

The Young Single Adults of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is helping the community get into the spirit of the season with their production of the play, A Christmas Carol.

Since mid-September, director Chelsey Campbell has been working with the crew and cast of around 30 members on the musical version of the Charles Dickens classic Christmas story.

“It is the musical version of the Charles Dickens classic, with the three ghosts of future, present and past, and it is a great little festive way to get into the spirit of the season,” says Campbell. “It is really quite close to the book, so the Scrooge is miserable and awful and he has this miraculous experience where he goes and sees his life, and it makes him unhappy but it makes him change his life. It is a really good show for all ages and everyone is welcome to come and enjoy the show.”

The cast and crew worked together to bring the family friendly, classic tale, with a musical twist to audiences in the community. Matthew Beohme, who plays the Scrooge says that the process of the show has gone well and they are excited for people to see what they have been working on.

“My experience has been good, we have a lot of great people including the ones that were in it last year, such as myself, so just revising the part and improving the character from last year,” says Boehme. “People can expect a night full of fun, laughter, a lot of young people having fun. We just try to bring people the Christmas spirit that everyone wants.”

The Young Single Adults performance of A Christmas Carol will take place every night from Wednesday through Saturday, with doors opening each evening at 7 p.m., and the show beginning at 7:30 p.m.

The play will be performed in the YSA Stake Centre, located at 1912 10 Ave south, and all tickets are free. The Young Single Adults would like to remind people that with a free show it is rush seating, and it is first come first served.
