Minor Midget Hurricanes look for fifth straight win

The Lethbridge minor midget AAA Hurricanes have a winning streak they’ll look to keep going at home this weekend.

Looking for their fifth straight win, the Hurricanes host the AC Avalanche in Alberta Minor Midget Hockey League play Sunday at 2:45 p.m. at Nicholas Sheran Arena.

Having started December with 6-3 and 4-2 wins over the Okotoks Oilers and the Calgary CNHA Blazers, respective­ly, the Hurricanes are 13-21, good for first in the South Division and one point behind the St. Albert Flyers (13-2-2) and the Leduc Techmation Oil Kings (13-3-2) for first overall in the league.

Nolan Price lead the Canes with 18 goals and 32 points in 16 games and is tied for third in league scoring, two points behind leading scorer Ethan Sundar of St Albert.

Lethbridge’s Colby Garner is in seventh in league scoring with 13 goals and 29 points in 16 games.

Hurricanes goaltender Jesse Schindel has a 5-0-1 record and his 2.73 goals-against average is tied for ninth in the league

Fellow goaltender Marek Andres is 8-2-0 with a 3.08 goals-against average.

The Avalanche are 5-12-0 and 12th in the South Division.

The Hurricanes have one more home game in December when they play the Calgary CBHA Blackhawks Dec. 16 at noon at Nicholas Sheran Arena.
