Lightning strike again

The Lethbridge Lightning continue to light it up in the early-going of the season.

The Lighting hit double digits Saturday, downing the Piikani Broncs 16–3 in Ranchland Hockey League play at Nicholas Sheran Arena.

With the win, the Lightning take over first place in the league at 7-2-0-0, one point ahead of the 8-6-1-0 Siksika Buffaloes and two points ahead of the Nanton Palominos (6-1-0-0).

On Saturday, Lethbridge’s Carson Bolduc led the Lightning with four goals and three assists, while Nic Bohle had the hat trick to go along with three helpers.

James Price and Dayn Opel each scored twice, while Ben Bohle, Shay Wirll, Taylor Gatto, Cam Mayert and Laramie Kostelansk­y added singles.

Bohle added five assists for a six-point night and Price had three assists for five points.

Opel had one assist for three points and Wirll had two helpers for a three-point outing.

Justice Taylor had three assists and Nolan McElroy had two.

Making his first start of the season, Lightning goaltender Matt Kohut backstoppe­d Lethbridge to the win.

Shay Prairie Chicken scored twice for the Broncs and Ty Provost added one.

Price was also selected as the Sportchek/Gas King player of the month for November.

The Lightning have one more home game before Christmas when they host the Palominos Saturday at 8:30 p.m. at Nicholas Sheran Arena.
