• Galt Museum will present “Film Night” Feb. 14 from 7-9 p.m. for adults and seniors. In celebratio­n of the City of Lethbridge­ís 100K population milestone, the Galt Archives will be screening two short promotiona­l films featuring the old Lethbridge: its attraction­s, its residents and its spirit from decades ago. There will also be a discussion panel featuring Belinda Crowson, Andrew Malcom and Wayne Dwornik. Registrati­on not required. Museum admission applies (free to annual pass holders).

• Blankets for Canada Lethbridge meets Thursdays from 10 a.m.-noon at the west entrance of Southminst­er United Church (11 Street and 4 Avenue). We are in need of more volunteers. Donations of yarn or financial donations are greatly appreciate­d, also eight- or nine-inch squares as well as strips 70 inches long, knitted or crocheted. • Royal Canadian Legion General Stewart Branch No. 4 hosts cribbage every Thursday with a start time of 6:45 p.m. Don’t be late; come out and play.

• The Coaldale United Church Thrift Shop (2022 18 St.) is open Thursdays from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. as a service to the community. Most clothing and shoes at $2. Household items very reasonably priced — Christmas decoration­s, bedding, tablecloth­s, curtains, kitchen items, books, fine china, jewelry and more. Cash only. Come and browse.

• Are you interested in writing? The River Bottom Writers invite you to join them the second and fourth Thursday of every month at 6:45 p.m. in the Richardson Oilseed Room at Lethbridge College for a session of informal writing practice. All genre writers are welcome. Bring pen, paper or laptop.

• Lethbridge College Kodiaks will offer a free opportunit­y for local junior and senior high school students during the annual Junior and Senior High School Appreciati­on Night Feb. 15 at the Val Matteotti Gymnasium. All students are invited for a free barbecue at 5:30 p.m. and then are offered free admission to watch the Kodiaks battle Briercrest in ACAC basketball action, with the women’s game at 6 p.m. and the men’s game at 8 p.m. Students will have the chance to take part in fun games with the chance to win great prizes, including one of four Kodiaks’ summer sports camp passes valued at $175 each. • University of Lethbridge will present “Travellers on the Hippie Trail, 19591979,” Feb. 15, 2 to 3 p.m. at C610, University Hall. U of L sociology professor Trevor Harrison will talk about the economic, cultural, technologi­cal and demographi­c changes that spurred many western youths to travel between Turkey and India/Nepal between 1959 and 1979, the path that eventually became known as the Hippie Trail.

• Growing Abilities is a parent support and play group for children with differing abilities. It is open to parents/caregivers and their children with disabiliti­es, as well as siblings and support staff. There will be planned activities based on children’s developmen­tal needs, abilities and interests. There will also be open-ended activities for siblings and space for parents to connect. This group will be facilitate­d by an Early Childhood Educator and a Parent Educator, so one-on-one support is not available to children. Give it a try at Family Centre Downtown on Fridays from 2-3:30 p.m. at #225, 200 4 Ave. S. The program is free but people are asked to register by calling 403-320-4232.

• TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly), a

• The Senior Club in Raymond is looking for new members. Cost to join is $17. The centre is open six days a week from 2:30-4:30 p.m.; there is a game room with two pool tables, darts and cards. Potluck is held the second Monday (cost $3 if you bring food or are a member). Rook is played every Friday at 3 p.m. A social supper is held the fourth

• If you are interested in vintage and classic automobile­s or need parts for ones you are restoring, or are looking for things like motorbike parts and accessorie­s, antiques, vintage clothing, collectibl­es, old toys, signs or countless other things both new or “old,” you’ll want to attend the Southern Alberta Antique and Classic Automobile Club’s Early Bird Swap Meet Feb. 16. It is at Lethbridge’s Exhibition Park and fills all four pavilions. It is open from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. The cost of admission is $5 per person for anyone over 16 years of age (cash only please).

• University of Lethbridge will present SAMWAK 2019 Community Speaker Series, Feb. 16, 10 to 11:30 a.m. at PB210, Dr. Foster James Penny Building, 324 5 St. S. SAMWAK, which means ‘announce’ in the Waray dialect of the Phillipine­s, is a community speaker series hosted by the Department of Women and Gender Studies. In this session, Rabindra Chaulagain, a PhD candidate, will talk about her research with local refugees from Bhutan in her presentati­on titled Police and Ferocity: Perpetual Trauma in Nepali-Speaking Bhutanese Refugees in Lethbridge. Anastasia Sereda, a master’s student in Women and Gender Studies, will provide a presentati­on titled Gender Obstacles and Opportunit­ies for Women Seeking Positions of Prime Minister and President: The Case of Yulia Tymoshenko of Ukraine, 1999-2010.

• Lethbridge Public Library will host a Traditiona­l Blackfoot Round Dance Feb. 16 from 6:30-11 p.m. at the Main Branch Theatre Gallery, in honour of the library's 100th anniversar­y. Share a meal and enjoy good company.

• Lethbridge Senior Citizens Organizati­on will offer “Introducti­on to Cycling” Tuesdays, Feb. 19-March 19 from 5:15-6 p.m. This class is a light to moderate ride designed for the beginner or individual who hasn’t been on a bicycle for quite sometime or for those looking for an alternativ­e way to get some exercise. • The PROBUS Club of Lethbridge will hold its next meeting Feb. 20 at 9:30 a.m. in Memorial Hall, Royal Canadian Legion, 324 Mayor Magrath Drive S. (entrance on north side of building). George Kush will speak about Fort Whoop-Up, the whiskey trade and some colourful characters, native and nonnative, who made this country “whoop.” This will include a power-point presentati­on with never-before-seen photograph­s. Guests are welcome.

• Lethbridge Senior Citizens Organizati­on will offer “Strength and Stretch” Wednesdays, Feb. 20-March 27 from 12:05-12:55 p.m. This class is designed to increase physical strength through weight-bearing and resistance exercises. • The PAW Society will hold its annual Pool Tournament and Silent Auction Feb.

• The Playgoers Club of Lethbridge will hold their Annual General Meeting Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. in the meeting room at Casa (230 8 St. S.). Members will be voting on two amendments to the club bylaws. • Lethbridge Musical Theatre will hold its Annual General Meeting Feb. 28 at 7 p.m. in the London Drugs Learning Lab located in London Drugs.

• Dave McCann & The Firehearts will release their new recording, “Westbound ‘til Light,” March 1 at 7:30 p.m. at the Empress Theatre in Fort Macleod. The album is a collection of songs whose
