• Farming Smarter will host a free Open Farm Days open house Aug. 17 from 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Farming Smarter facility east of Lethbridge, offering an opportunit­y to learn about various kinds of farming and the research behind smart farming. Day includes sunflower photo field; cooking demonstrat­ions at noon and 1 p.m.; wagon ride into the research plots; climb on large machinery; talk to 4H leaders, federal and provincial scientists; taste/buy grown- and made-in-Alberta food products. Prizes change each week throughout the summer.

• Lethbridge Public Library’s Teen Summer Challenge continues until Aug.
