• “Be Inspired, Be Connected” Annual Charity Auction Event hosted by Real Estate Centre will take place Jan.

17 at Heritage Hall, Exhibition Park, with all proceeds going to STARS Air Ambulance and HALO Rescue. Cocktail hour starting at 5 p.m., prime rib supper at 6 p.m., presentati­ons and live auction at 7:30 p.m., silent auction from 5-8 p.m. Tickets $65 per person or $480 for corporate table (8 people). • Line Dancing in Taber, Fridays from 9:30-10:30 a.m. starting Jan. 17 at Knox United Church basement (4929 50 Ave. in Taber). $5 donation per class. Call or text Diane at 403-892-7435.

• Growing Abilities is a parent support and play group for children with differing abilities. It is open to parents/caregivers and their children with disabiliti­es, as well as siblings and support staff. There will be planned activities based on children’s developmen­tal needs, abilities and interests. There will also be open-ended activities for siblings and space for parents to connect. This group will be facilitate­d by an Early Childhood Educator and a Parent Educator, so one-on-one support is not available to children. Give it a try at Family Centre Downtown on Fridays from 2-3:30 p.m. at #225, 200 4 Ave. S. The program is free but people are asked to register by calling 403-320-4232.

• TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly), a non-profit organizati­on which provides support to people wanting to lose weight, meets regularly in Lethbridge and area. Details: Eileen Schmidt, 403-405-2410, or visit the website, www.tops.org.

• Celebrate Recovery, a Christ-centred recovery program for any hurt, hang-up or habit, meets every Friday at Park Meadows Baptist Church, 2011 15 Ave. N. • Nord-Bridge Bingo welcomes the public (18 and over) for a cash bingo with no surcharges Fridays at 1 p.m. (except holidays) at 1904 13 Ave. N. A regular book is $5, extra games $1 each. • The Senior Club in Raymond is looking for new members. Cost to join is $17. The centre is open six days a week from 2:30-4:30 p.m.; there is a game room with two pool tables, darts and cards. Potluck is held the second Monday (cost $3 if you bring food or are a member). Rook is played every Friday at 3 p.m. A social supper is held the fourth Thursday (cost $8). Music provided at meals. • The Lethbridge Antique & Toy Show and Sale 2020 will take place Jan. 18 from 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. and Jan. 19 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Italian Canadian Club, 1511 St. Edward Blvd. N. • A One-Act Play Workshop, presented by The Playgoers of Lethbridge, will be held Jan. 18 from 10-a.m.-noon and 1-3:30 p.m. at Casa, 230 8 St. S. All are welcome to this free workshop offered for anyone interested in being involved in directing, producing or performing in a one-act play. • Galt Museum’s Hands-on History program for children to attend with adults continues Jan. 18 from 1-2 p.m., featuring “Sock Penguins.” Create a cute sock penguin and find out about some of the stuffed animals in the Galt’s Collection­s. • The Lethbridge Folk Club presents Celtara Jan. 18 at 8 p.m. at The Cave, Lethbridge College. Known as a driving force on the prairie Celtic scene, Celtara draws influences from the far reaches of Ireland, Norway, Brittany, Scotland, Sweden and beyond into their uniquely identifiab­le Canadian-Celtic sound. Rich arrangemen­ts, full-bodied vocals and enticing harmonies have fused into spirited performanc­es for more than 14 years and a number of album releases. • Friends of the Helen Schuler Nature Centre Society’s first 2020 edition of Travel Adventures takes place Jan. 20 at 7 p.m. at the Helen Schuler Nature Centre, featuring “Spectacula­r Birds of Australia & New Zealand” with Lyndon Penner. You’ll meet parakeets that work as pollinator­s, the improbable fairy wrens, and flightless emus and kiwi birds as well as many others. Everyone is welcome; admission is by donation. Proceeds will go toward the Growing the Grassroots Endowment Fund, supporting the Helen Schuler Nature Centre. • Alberta Genealogic­al Society, Lethbridge Branch will hold its monthly meeting Jan. 23 at 7 p.m. at Room 128, 909 3 Ave. N. Guest speaker will be Henning Muendel, who will present “Memoirs and Memory - a Muendel-family history from World War II. • Lethbridge College Kodiaks will host the annual Junior and Senior High School Appreciati­on Night Jan. 24 at the Val Matteotti Gymnasium. All students are invited for a free dinner at 5:30 p.m. and then are offered free admission to watch the Kodiaks battle Red Deer College in ACAC basketball action, with the women’s game at 6 p.m. and the men’s game at 8 p.m. Students will have the chance to take part in fun games with the chance to win great prizes, including one of four Kodiaks’ summer sports camp passes valued at $190 each. • 16th annual Wood’s Homes Children’s Benefit Gala will be held March 28 at 5:30 p.m. at the Coast Hotel Lethbridge, in support of the emergency youth shelter, The CORE. This 8-bed facility provides youth under the age of 18 with a bed, 3 meals a day, laundry facilities, showers, clothing and crisis counsellin­g and support services. This year’s gala includes a musical performanc­e of “Frozen” by students of St. Francis Middle School, a streamline­d check-in, a condensed program, an amazing meal sponsored by College Ford Lincoln, “backto-paper” silent and live auctions and entertainm­ent by The Chevelles.
