How the Community Can Help:
National Volunteer Week is a coast-to-coast celebration of the commitment, dedication, generosity and selflessness of Canada’s volunteers. This year’s theme is “It’s time to applaud this country’s volunteers.” Volunteer Lethbridge invites all volunteer organizations to take time this week to applaud their volunteers for their dedication to our community in the past, present and future.
With the outbreak of COVID19, and in the name of public safety, many organizations have cancelled many volunteer appreciation events. It is even more important to acknowledge and thank all the volunteers for their tireless effort in assisting with providing even just the essentials. Whether you are volunteering at a food bank, sewing masks at home, doing wellness checks or simply picking up groceries for someone who can’t do it themselves, we applaud you! Your time, efforts and selflessness is valued.
Volunteer Lethbridge’s Leaders of Tomorrow Youth Volunteer Awards Gala, normally held during National Volunteer Week, has moved to online platforms. Visit their online platforms to see a showcase of this year’s youth each day. Youth contribute enormously to our community. 2020 Leaders of Tomorrow recipients have volunteered a combined total of 19,709 hours at 153 local agencies and events. You are truly amazing!
Agencies and businesses can give a shout-out to volunteers by sharing a “Thank you #YQLVolunteers” message, image or story on any electronic signage, TV ads, social media or posters. The Volunteer Lethbridge flag is flying until April 24 at City Hall to applaud all of our community volunteers.
