Police lay drug charges in three investigat­ions

Lethbridge Police have charged multiple people with drug offences following three separate investigat­ions this week. After receiving numerous reports about suspected drug activity at a home along the 500 block of 7 Avenue South, a shortterm investigat­ion was initiated. On Thursday members of the Crime Suppressio­n Team and Patrols obtained and executed a search warrant which resulted in the arrest of four people inside the home. Police seized bear spray, small quantities of fentanyl and methamphet­amine, as well as drug parapherna­lia. In addition, police recovered a generator that was related to a break and enter in 2016.

Kory James Shouting, 40, of Lethbridge, is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of traffickin­g, possession of property obtained by crime and one count of possession of a controlled substance and possession of a weapon. Shouting is n custody awaiting a Judicial Interim Release hearing.

The remaining three subjects were released without charges.

On Thursday members of the Downtown Policing Unit, Crime Suppressio­n Team, K9 and Patrols executed a search warrant at a problem residence along the 300 block of 20 Street North. Three subjects were arrested and police located drug parapherna­lia along with a bike chop shop with multiple bike parts, power tools and as sanders for removing paint. Additional stolen property including two high-end mountain bikes, golf clubs, pontoon boat tubes, stolen cheques and a backpack containing stolen tools from a recent car prowling theft were also recovered.

Bradley Peter Smith, 53, of Lethbridge, is charged with three counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000. He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court July 30.

The two other subjects were released without charges.

On Wednesday following a short-term investigat­ion into drug and suspicious activity at a home along the 900 block of 12 Street South, members of Patrols, the Crime Suppressio­n Tem, Downtown Policing Unit and Priority Crimes Unit, obtained and executed a search warrant. One male occupant was arrested and police seized nearly 30 grams of suspected carfentani­l (worth approximat­ely $5,800), nearly $5,000 cash, Xanax pills, drug parapherna­lia, multiple cellphones and stolen credit cards. In addition, a traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle after it left the residence and two female occupants were arrested. Police seized a quantity of cash and cellphones with evidence of drug traffickin­g activity.

Mohammud Ayah, 24, of Toronto, is charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of traffickin­g. He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court July 16.

Adelina Christine Adams, 27, of Lethbridge, is charged with possession for the purpose of traffickin­g, possession of stolen property under $5,000, two counts of failing to comply with release order conditions and one count of failing to comply with an undertakin­g. She is scheduled to appear in court July 16.

Domonique Jacqueline Mae Betts, 21, of Lethbridge, is charged with possession for the purpose of traffickin­g and possession of stolen property. She is scheduled to appear in court July 16.
