City offering more surveys to engage community

When the City of Lethbridge asked residents if, among the COVID-19 changes, they were ready to provide feedback on City programs and services again, the community survey response was overwhelming.

Over 1,400 participants completed the “We’re all in this together” survey, and the majority of the respondents said they would be ready to start engaging again. Although the City can’t host inperson community engagement events at this time, it will continue to connect with residents digitally through the Get Involved Lethbridge website,

getinvolvedlethbridge.ca.

Currently, the City has a few other surveys and open discussions for development starting with the Stay Well Survey, running until June 22. This survey is a followup community survey that explores the impacts of COVID-19 a bit deeper.

As plans are underway for the 5 Avenue North and 13 Street corridors, as well as the 16 Avenue South connection between 13 Street and Scenic Drive South, the City is asking the community to provide feedback on a variety of options, including options for bike boulevards. The survey runs throughout the month of June.

The Transportation Safety Plan Survey is running from June 1-30, where the City is completing its first Transportation Safety Plan and wants to hear what is important to the community, and to plan a guide on how residents can work together to minimize the risk of motor vehicle injuries and enhance safety for all types of travel.

A public engagement to keep an eye out for in early June is the 3 Avenue South Beautification project. The 1.6-kilometre corridor from Stafford Drive to Mayor Magrath Drive is looking for new inspirations and will begin with a Drawing in Dialogue exercise with stakeholders. Inspirations drawn up will be shared with the public towards the end of June with opportunities to comment.
