GOAT SNUGGLING INTRODUCED AT LETHBRIDGE CORN MAZE
The Lethbridge Corn Maze has expanded their list of fun family activities through some brainstorming over COVID-19, and decided to create a dedicated space for people to have an hour of goat snuggling.
During quarantine, the Corn Maze crew crafted individual relaxation pens for people to spend some time with a few baby goats out of their large selection. Over the hour, people are able to play, pet and snuggle with the happy animals.
“We had lots of goats over the years and people love them, and I saw somewhere else that they were doing goal snuggling, goat yoga and stuff like that, so I thought it was something we could do because we had the goats, and we built some pens for it and this weekend we started,” says Theo Slingerlind, Lethbridge Corn Maze owner.
“We have about 49 goats to choose from, and there are about four goats in the pens with them, rent it for an hour and snuggle and play with them as much as you want.”
Lethbridge Corn Maze saw a lot of interest from public who wanted to spend their summer afternoon snuggling and playing with small goats.
“So far the community response has been very good, people have been coming in and loving the goats, the goats love the people. The goats have to get used to people so they may be a little excited to see people at the start but they do calm down and cuddle,” says Slingerlind.
Slingerlind says goats are pretty easy animals to care for and he was surprised they haven’t thought of a program like this before. Although the corn is still growing for their main maze, all of their other activities are open for people to enjoy.
“Goats are so easy, besides them escaping, but they eat everything so it makes it very easy to feed them and they are just very easy to take care of and make happy,” says Slingerlind.
“We also have the petting zoo open every Friday, Saturday, as well as everything else open besides the corn maze which we are anticipating to open at the end of July.”
The Lethbridge Corn Maze invites all to experience some of their farm activities, including their newest addition of goat snuggling. Over the isolation period, the maze team have added measures to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, as well as social distancing measures.
