Carey to fill in as Horns’ women’s soccer coach
As a transition piece to the end of October, Lethbridge College Kodiaks soccer coach Sean Carey will serve as the interim coach of the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns women’s soccer program.
Last week, the Horns relieved coaches Ilsa Wong and Jack Reddy of their duties after the the women’s soccer program was found to be allowing players outside the Horns soccer sport cohort to participate in practices earlier this month, breaching the university’s COVID-19 sport cohort protocols.
Named the 2019 CCAA National coach of the year, Carey will have a busy fall as he will continue to serve as the men’s and women’s soccer coach for the college as well.
Last season, Carey led the Kodiaks men’s team to the program’s first Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference Championship and a berth in the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association national championship.
In the ACAC final, the Kodiaks beat Red Deer College and went on to finish seventh at the CCAA Championship in Oshawa, Ont.
Pronghorn athletics will begin a full search for a new head coach for the women’s soccer program in the New Year.
