Three facing charges following police search

Three people are facing charges as Lethbridge police released more details regarding a search warrant conducted Thursday at a southside home that required the assistance of the Explosives Disposal Unit.

The Lethbridge Police Service Crime Suppressio­n Team was on scene for the warrant at the home on the 800 block of 16 Street South when what was described as several packages of concern were found. The explosives unit was called in and confirmed the items were improvised explosive devices.

Neighbours were required to both evacuate and shelter in place while the IEDs were rendered safe and the residence was further searched.

The Crime Suppressio­n Team said seven explosive devices were located, along with multiple narcotics, suspected fentanyl, methamphet­amine and cocaine, over $13,000 in cash, stolen property and ID documents, and various items one of the suspects was prohibited from possessing.

Shaun Ryan Hlavach of Lethbridge faces several charges including: three counts of possession for the purpose of traffickin­g; possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000; 12 counts of possessing a prohibited weapon; two counts of knowingly possessing a prohibited weapon; two counts of unauthoriz­ed possession of a prohibited weapon; seven counts of possession of an explosive substance; two counts of possession of stolen property; and three counts of possession of identity documents. Hlavach’s bail hearing was held and adjourned for Sept. 28.

Allyson Lauren Deal of

Lethbridge, was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance and unauthoriz­ed possession of a prohibited weapon. Her next court appearance is set for Nov. 6.

Jocko Slade Trotter of Lethbridge was charged with failing to comply with a release order. His next court appearance is set for Nov. 24.
