• Lethbridge Senior Citizens Organizati­on is launching the Drive Happiness program where volunteer drivers take seniors to their medical appointmen­ts, to pick up groceries or take them to important life activities. The Drive Happiness program is looking for volunteers to assist as drivers. Many seniors in our community are facing extreme loneliness due to the lack of accessible transporta­tion in the community and COVID-19 has only compounded this loneliness. • Tom Price and band perform every Saturday (weather permitting), with a new time from about 2-4 p.m. on Tom’s driveway at 6 Notre Dame Road W. Everyone is invited to bring a lawn chair and enjoy the music.

• Mindful Moments is offered every Saturday (except long weekends) from 11 a.m.-noon at Martha Retreat Centre, 1130 Scenic Drive S., featuring a drop-in session based in Mindfulnes­s teachings that combines a short talk with formal group meditation in silence. No experience is necessary. Facilitato­r: Cheryl Dick. Freewill offering accepted. Official income tax receipts are available upon request.

• Conversati­on Café is back! Want to improve your English and make new friends? Join us for an Adult ESL online class Tuesdays, 6:30-8 p.m., until Nov. 17. “Travelling Across Canada”! • Coaldale Public Library will host Messy Mornings Oct. 16, 23, 30 from 11-11:30 a.m. for caregivers with their infants, toddlers and preschoole­rs. Preregistr­ation and masks are required for participan­ts. Call 403-345-1340 to register. Share a story and engage in some messy fun and play!

• German Canadian Club of Lethbridge will present Oktoberfes­t Dinner and Dance Oct. 16-17 for members and invited guests ($35 per person). Doors open at 6 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m., dance with DJ Otto at 8 p.m. Menu: smoked pork hock, sausage, hot sauerkraut with onions, mashed potatoes, assorted flavours of shortcake. Catered by LA Chefs. • Lethbridge Handmade Market’s latest COVID-19 event will take place Oct. 17 at the Main Pavilion at Exhibition Park, with the theme Harvest Gnome. Open from 9-9:30 a.m. for seniors and vulnerable attendees only, followed by access for the general public beginning at 9:30 and ending at 4 p.m. All vendors and shoppers are required to wear face masks. Masks will be available at the door. Over 100 handmade artisans (33 brand new to LHM) and over $2,000 in handmade door prizes. Free kids’ activity packs; Macs & Custard food truck outside; costume competitio­n a 2 p.m.

• Lethbridge Artists Club has scheduled a day trip for a casual gathering of artists interested in painting, drawing, photograph­ing of St. Henry’s Church near Twin Butte Oct. 18 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. (map of directions available on website). • Martha Retreat Centre will offer Spiritual Literacy through the Lens of the Medicine Wheel. “To read the sacred in everyday life, we have to develop new qualities of mind and heart, qualities that open us to the presence of the spiritual within all aspects of existence. No moment, no thing is to be excluded.” — from the opening credits of Spiritual Literacy Reading the Sacred in Everyday Life DVD series. Utilizing the lens of the Medicine Wheel as a reflective tool along with this series, we will explore two qualities pertinent to our spiritual journey per evening. • PROBUS Club of Lethbridge will hold its next meeting Oct. 21 at 10 a.m. using Zoom technology. Special speaker this month is Dr. Daren Heyland, whose presentati­on is “Plan Well Guide: A novel decision aid to support decision making in serious illness.” Dr. Heyland is a critical care doctor and a Professor of Medicine at Queen’s University, Kingston, Ont. • “Come Away and Rest Awhile – How well do you sleep?” will take place Friday, Oct. 23 at 7:30 p.m. to Sunday, Oct. 25 at 1 p.m. at Martha Retreat Centre. This weekend silent retreat is open to a maximum of 15 participan­ts interested in deepening their spiritual practice in an immersive experience.
