LETHBRIDGE PUBLIC LIBRARY – TEEN ADVISORY GROUP VOLUNTEERS
Lethbridge Public Library exists to provide residents and guests, connections to a universe of ideas, resources, information, entertainment and experience in a vibrant setting. Their Teen Services connect our community’s youth with programs, resources, entertainment, and more. The Teen Advisory Group or TAG, is the place to talk life, libraries and teen programs. The meetings last one hour, and happen once a month. It’s an easy way to earn a bit of volunteering credit and help shape the library’s future! This group does a lot of brainstorming and idea sharing, and coming up with plans to make the library an even better place for our city’s teens.
Anyone currently in grades 7-12 can volunteer with TAG and bring their voice to the community. To support social distancing measures, they are meeting online via Discord, rather than in person at the library. OLDMAN WATERSHED COUNCIL – CASINO VOLUNTEERS
The Oldman Watershed Council is a not-for-profit organization of southern Albertans that maintains and improves the Oldman watershed by improving and sharing knowledge, building and strengthening stakeholder partnerships, promoting community action and stewardship and developing and implementing integrated land and water plans. Oldman Watershed Council has a casino on Sunday, Nov. 8 and Monday, Nov. 9 and they are looking for both daytime
and nighttime volunteers. Day shifts are 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. and night shifts are 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. Positions will be determined the day of the event. UNITED WAY OF LETHBRIDGE & SOUTH WESTERN ALBERTA – BOARD MEMBERS
United Way’s purpose is to raise funds to support essential local programs at United Way Partner Agencies. Grants from United Way’s Community Fund support programs that target poverty reduction, building healthy families and strong communities, and helping children and youth be
all they can be. United Way is seeking up to three new faces for
its Board of Directors. Their Board Directors are dedicated and skilled in their work, and provide clear and consistent leadership. The board assumes both a mandatory role, based on legal requirements of boards of directors, and a chosen role, based on the board model it has elected for itself. New board directors will work with the board chair and executive director to discuss and define their role on the board and chosen committees, and get to know the organization and its work to support local communities. They are looking for an enthusiastic, outgoing individual to help raise awareness about their organization. The successful candidate will develop a promotional strategy for the new Lethbridge Chapter. They will create promotional materials and seek out direct-to-client advertising opportunities throughout the city. LETHBRIDGE FAMILY SERVICES – COMMUNITY CONNECTOR VOLUNTEERS
Lethbridge Family Services is a highly-accredited, charitable human services organization that improves the well-being and quality of life for individuals and families in southwestern Alberta. Help create a more inclusive city by volunteering as a community connector with individuals or families who are new to Canada with a focus on language and literacy. Volunteers in this role will help newcomers adjust to life in Canada though conversation, activities, and socializing. Support individuals and families as they learn English through school and language training programs.
