• Barons United Church Thrift Shop, at 113 Main St., Barons, is open Thursdays and Saturdays during the COVID19 pandemic. Check out the great deals. Because of the shop’s small size, wearing a mask is mandatory. Clean, gently used donations are greatly appreciated. Hours are 12:30-4:30 p.m Thursdays and from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturdays. • The MCC Thrift Shop, located at 1117 2 Ave. “A” N., supports poverty reduction projects around the world through Mennonite Central Committee. • Martha Retreat Centre will offer Six Degrees of Meditation Wednesdays unril Feb. 24, 7-8:30 p.m. This six-week program explores the six degrees of meditation. The course will explore the topics of Leadership, Resilience, Present Moment, Courage, Creativity and Gratitude and how they all connect back to meditation and mindfulness. Exploring the six degrees of meditation and the whispers of insight Meditation offers. Meditation is the acquaintance link to awareness and insight. Facilitator: Hailey Pinksen. Cost $65. Come to walk the labyrinth on our grounds. Breathe, centre yourself and quiet your mind with the three stages of releasing (letting go), receiving (pausing to reflect), and returning (pondering and integrating your experience). A free will offering is gratefully accepted.
Centering Prayer is a method of silent prayer that prepares us to receive the gift of contemplative prayer, prayer in which we experience God’s presence within us. This method of prayer is both a relationship with God and a discipline to foster that relationship. Registration is required. Please contact the Martha Retreat Centre at 403-328-3422 to register. • The next meeting of the PROBUS Club of Lethbridge will be held Feb. 17 at 9:45 a.m. using Zoom technology. Our guest speaker will be Dr. David Chandross, currently a senior scholar in residence at the Ted Roger's School of Management at Ryerson University. He has done pioneering work on the role of learning in the prevention of dementia in seniors and the use of technology such as virtual reality. Topic: Can machines think just like humans?
• The Lethbridge Historical Society general meeting will be held Tuesday, Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. on Zoom. David Fletcher will present a talk on curling in Lethbridge. Check our Facebook page for the Zoom link.
