ROASTS AND TOASTS

-

ROAST: To the people who are worried about plastic straws when Amazon dumps millions pounds of plastic in the landfills every year.

ROAST: To Parks Canada. If you know 44 per cent of people aren’t being compliant with the watercraft checks, you must know who they are. Go after them instead of us who abide by the law.

ROAST: The biggest drug problem areas in Alberta are Edmonton, Calgary, and Lethbridge per the Alberta government crime data. Sadly our mayor and city council do nothing. Summer is coming and tent camps will again become our problem. We need to get a mayor and council that is not afraid to act. Lethbridge is also identified as the port of entry for illegal substances for the province.

TOAST: To all provinces who participate in the federal pharmacare program – you show you really care about your citizens!

ROAST: Stephen Guibeault needs to get etiquette training. It is rude that when you are spoken to in one language to then answer in another language, especially when you are fully conversant in both languages.

ROAST: To the university students for wasting all that water for their charity event. Couldn’t educated people come up with a better idea when we’re facing a serious drought?

TOAST: To the police for finally cracking down on downtown. ROAST for taking six years when people have been asking for it daily.

ROAST: To the lawlessness task force as you aren’t needed. The police now are finally doing their job so stop wasting our money on your meetings.

ROAST: To City Hall for the extremely high price to rent the Bowman. It seems you don’t actually want not-for-profits in there, pricing it outside of their ability to pay. Why aren’t you treating this like you do Casa and other buildings and offering a very low and reasonable rate?

ROAST: To the City of Lethbridge for plowing to the right. This does not work on Uplands Blvd as we all have front attached garages. We go to leave for work and have to shovel for 30 minutes to get our vehicles past the 24-30 inch berm!

ROAST: To City Hall. Maybe you should have someone working there that’s actually been in some trouble in their life - You might get a handle on how criminals think and operate. I think the police station could use a couple of them, too.

ROAST: To all these sad-faced politicians on the news when they’re talking about saving kids from all the bad things on the internet. I have been catching little tidbits of five men or more in the news for over two years now, trafficking and grooming young girls for sex right here in Lethbridge and nothing happens.

ROAST: To the federal government for the recently published figures on how much it cost the taxpayers for their useless trip to the recent climate conference in the Middle East. The only thing worse was the revelation of the cost for the Governor General to tour around the Middle East.

TOAST: To Gwyn Morgan’s article in the Lethbridge Herald “Truckers get jail time while real criminals get bail and parole.” There can be no more dangerous threat to democracy than when our judicial system become political. Gwyn’s column is a perfect example of our judicial system being politicized. If you either hate or support the truckers action in Ottawa or Coutts, the arrested citizens need to be treated fairly within the justice system.

TOAST: To all the people who look for the good in Lethbridge through grateful hearts instead of only pointing to the negative with their complaining tongues. We are blessed to live in this beautiful community whose citizens work so hard to make this city safe and prosperous.

ROAST: to the roaster(s) who implied that those who ride bicycles are drug dealers and that those who listen to loud music in their cars are drug dealers. Did you consider that a bicyclist may not have a car, as you may have. And has it been considered that loud music in a car may be played by a music lover who wants to hear all the instruments?

ROAST: To the people who believe we need bike lanes downtown. I can understand wanting to enjoy your passion for bike riding but go find more appropriate places. There are many of us that need to go downtown for business and the bike lanes are hindering our ability to do so. We need to see optometrists, lawyers, retailers, and a variety of other businesses and these bike lanes are a hindrance and safety issue.

If businesses had the option, they should relocate. There is just too much to tolerate downtown. ROAST: To the attack on beer (re: raise beer tax). We are losing more and more of our rights every year under Liberal rule.
