Solid first week, but tough road ahead for Classic Loser 7 contestants
With a little more than a week in the books, contestants of Classic Loser 7 have gotten off to a very good start in their weightloss journeys.
More than 100 pounds lost between the 20 contestants so far, says one of the contest’s trainers Todd Schneider.
“We have a really good group and they’re all doing really well — combined we’re just over 100 pounds lost,” he said. “This year we have some returning contestants so we’re thinking of having two groups, one of them being for the more experienced contestants.”
No one has dropped out of the contest yet says Schneider, but as the contest picks up, things are going to get tough for everyone involved.
“These people are overweight and these 12 weeks are going to be very tough,” he said. “As things get going real fast, we’ve seen people hit a wall every year, but the great stories and achievements come from the people that can push through and reach their goals.”
Schneider says the first couple weeks of Classic Loser are about getting to know the contestants for the trainers, and for the contestants to learn about themselves.
“During the earlier days we really get to know the contestants and who they really are,” he said. “What we do for them is to get to know who they are on the inside — we give them body composition stats, workout plans and meal plans so they can really size what the 12 weeks will look like.”
Contestant McKenna Berg was at the gym Friday afternoon following her workout plan; she says she is very happy with her first week.
“It’s really good,” she said while using the elliptical. “They’ve got us doing a little bit of everything — lots of cardio and weights, it’s a good mix.”
Berg says the time was right for her to start working out and losing weight, and she has already seen results.
“In the first week I lost four pounds,” she said. “I’m really happy and proud, but there’s definitely more to come — I want to lose 100, that’s my goal and I want to get there — I want to make a change.”
