Enslow on Friday night at The Silver Buckle has been a staple of the Medicine Hat entertainment scene for the past couple of years. That comes to an end this week.

The popular local duo —Brady Enslen and Jay Bowcott —recently moved to Calgary to take the next steps in their music careers. Enslow will play its final show at the local venue tomorrow and are puling out all the stops to make the final show one to remember. For one, they’ll have a full band, with Kyle Harmon on drums, Tyson Maiko on bass and Tim Herman on pedal steel. Second, the show will feature the release of Enslow’s debut album, “Drifters,” which has been a couple of years in the making.

“It’s about time now,we’ve been a band for a while,” Enslen said, calling it an exciting time for Bowcott and himself.

Bowcott had been playing at The Buckle for a while when Enslen moved to Medicine Hat and slowly began integrating himself into Bowcott’s show about three years ago. It was only about a year and a half or two years ago that they began to really solidify what they were and their music.

Since then they’ve played across Alberta and in Medicine Hat, including a special show in Medicine Hat last summer at the Monarch Theatre. It also served as a fundraiser to help finance “Drifters.”

“We wanted to put on a really professional looking show and put on more of a production,” Enslen said. “I think people were receptive to that and it definitely helped financially with the album.”

Being in Calgary has opened up opportunities for Enslow and allows them to work on building a fanbase in Calgary and other Alberta cities, something Enslen said was difficult to do when only touring through once every few months.

The fanbase here is solid though, and are in for a treat Friday, Enslen said.

“It will be a really meaningful show on Friday after all the years of playing in Medicine Hat,” he said. “There’s a lot of friends and family and a lot of people that have been there to support us over the years.”

The show starts at 9 p.m., with Derek Hintz opening.

Tickets are $20 and are available at Station Coffee Co, The Silver Buckle and at the door. Each ticket comes with a free CD.
