MHC Student Association will be headed by re-elected president Beth Lewis
Medicine Hat College Student Association president Beth Lewis was re-elected along with her fellow executive members Melissa Benson (VP internal) and Dalton Ehry (VP external) during last Wednesday’s oncampus vote. The student association’s executive elections are held every March and regular council elections held every September at MHC.
Lewis said she was excited to receive a second term. She credited the executive’s positive working relationship with college administration and the SA’s focus on wellness as two big factors in why she, Ehry and Benson were reelected.
“We did a lot of work last year that really benefited the students, and the results were visible to students, and I think that makes a difference when it comes to election time,” explained Lewis. “I think something which was really exciting for us was our mental health promotion, and our mental health advocacy. What that looks like on campus is we have different awareness weeks throughout the school year ... So we improved those and made them more enjoyable and beneficial for all students.”
Lewis said student wellness will continue to be the theme for her second term; that and a renewed focus on improving the SA’s student-run Crave pub experience.
“We are excited about the upcoming year. We have lots of new ideas, and it’s great to have a second term because in the first one you are still learning. I think with a second year, we can accomplish even more.”
