Hits by The Four Seasons brought to life

Music that started with four guys singing on a street corner more than five decades ago has stood the test of time and is the basis for one of the most popular tribute shows around today.

The direct-from-Las Vegas show Oh What A Night!, at the Esplanade on April 18 at 7 p.m., brings the music of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons to life.

“It’s an all around feelgood show for the whole family," said Rick Morgan, one of the four talented singers and dancers who perform Oh What A Night! “Each guy gets to take lead on a different song. We are ourselves on stage; James, Andy, Peter, myself. It’s an energetic show and it also has a lot of humour in it because your never quite know what the guys are going to say, you never quite know what the audience is going to do.”

Turn on the right radio station today and you’ll hear hits from The Four Seasons like “Sherry,” “Walk Like a Man” and “Big Girls Don’t Cry.” On other radio stations you’ll hear rock and dance songs that have sampled The Four Seasons’ hits.

That sort of musical longevity makes for a diverse audience wherever Oh What A Night! goes. Morgan

Asays they know there’s a certain demographic that knew the songs in the 1960s and ’70s the show hits the most but that everyone from grandma to grandkids are in the audience.

"A lot of times we have kids after the show begging their parents to buy the CDs because these kids have never heard this music before,” he said.

Morgan is quick to note the show is not meant to be an imitation of The Four Seasons. After all, who could possibly imitate Frankie Valli? But they can bring the house down like The Four Seasons did, and find a home in your head.

“I guarantee (the audience) will have a good time and they will come out of that theatre singing one of those songs,” Morgan said. "Two times in the show we do a cappella and it brings it down to the nuts and bolts of what these guys were. When we do those songs a cappella you can hear a pin drop in any venue, no matter the size.”

Tickets, $59.95 plus service charge and GST, are available at www.tixx.ca, by calling 403-502-8777 or in person at the Esplanade box office or the Medicine Hat Mall customer service desk.
