Lethbridge police seize 400 fentanyl pills in search of apartment

-

Two people are facing drug-related charges following a seizure of 400 fentanyl pills in Lethbridge earlier this week.

On Wednesday, ALERT Lethbridge’s organized crime and gang team arrested two men in a vehicle after receiving information about suspected fentanyl trafficking. Officers then obtained warrants to search a west-side apartment where one of the men lived.

When the warrants were executed, 400 fentanyl pills were seized. A vehicle was also searched and police seized cellphones, a small amount of cash and an additional fentanyl pill.

“This is one of the largest seizures of fentanyl we’ve had in Lethbridge,” said Staff Sgt. Jason Walper of ALERT Lethbridge, in a release. “Given the significant public safety risk this drug poses, it’s very satisfying to get this many pills off our streets.”

Luke Tams, 27, has been charged with possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking, possession of the proceeds of crime, resisting arrest and breach of recognizance.

Ryan Toner, 33, has been charged with possession of fentanyl.

Two other people were arrested in relation to the incidents as well after attempting to break into the suite where the warrants were executed.

Mason Cranston, 34, has been charged with attempted break-and-enter and possession of break-in instruments.

Lindsay Ito, 40, has been charged with attempted break-and-enter and breach of recognizance.
