Concert Band Society’s two bands all set for Pops and Favourites, Vol. IV
The Medicine Hat Concert Band Society is gearing up to show off its latest presentation — the Pops and Favourites IV: Around the World.
Director Bill Wahl says he is looking forward to the show, the fourth installation of the project,
“We put on about four shows each year and every time we’re excited to get on stage,” he said. “The Pops and Favourites shows are really fun and different every year we do them — Saturday’s show should be a good time for everyone attending.”
The concert will feature the Andante and Allegro bands, which Wahl says are both filled with very highquality musicians.
“The Allegro band is the more mature band made up of people who have been doing this for a very long time, while the Andante band is made up of adults who picked up music a bit later in life,” he said. “I think we are really lucky to have two bands of this quality in the city — we play pieces at a pretty high level.”
Wahl says the variety of songs will be played, like they are at each Pops and Favourites show.
“We play some really popular songs, and some favourites that the bands really like to play. It’s a nice mix, on top of everything else we have planned.”
The show will run Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Esplanade, and will last roughly two hours with an intermission, says Wahl.
