Things to do with dad this Father’s Day weekend
There is lots happening in the city to celebrate Father’s Day weekend, and here are some of those great opportunities to share some bonding time with dad.
Ride for Dad
If the sedate pace of golf or fishing is not your dad’s thing, then perhaps hitting the open road and revving engines might suit him better. Badlands Harley Davidson is sponsoring its annual “Ride for Dad” poker run Sunday to raise money for prostate cancer. The poker run starts at 10 a.m. in the Walmart parking lot and ends at 4 p.m. at Whiskey Creek pub. Registration starts at 9 a.m.
Father’s Day Fishing and Fun at Echo Dale Regional Park
Celebrate Father’s Day with a day of fishing at Echo Dale Park. Those coming are encouraged to bring their fishing gear and bait to the Echo Dale boating lake and have their fish measured by our Parks and Recreation staff. Bragging rights are on the line.
Participants between the ages of 16-65 years require a valid fishing licence in order to fish within the provincial regulations. Free family photos provided to everyone who comes out. Event goes Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
YMCA and Cancarb Father’s Day River Run
For those dads who prefer a more active celebration of Father’s Day, the Medicine Hat Downtown YMCA is sponsoring its annual Cancarb Father’s Day River Run. Participants will have the chance to race at the 3 km, 5 km and 10 km distances. Registration deadline is Saturday and the cost is $30.00. The race starts at 9 a.m. Sunday followed by a pancake breakfast. Proceeds go to support the YMCA’s Living Fit program.
Plaid for Dad charity golf tournament
Taking place Monday at the Connaught Golf Club, Plaid for Dad raises money for prostate cancer research. Head out on the links to celebrate dad, and do some good for men’s health at the same time.
