Redcliff Days returns
The annual Redcliff Days celebration hit the town this weekend, offering families a wide variety of free activities to take part in.
The annual festival has taken place for more than 40 years, and community and protective services worker Tracey Jenkins said the event is about celebrating the community as a group.
“We hold Redcliff Days every year to bring the community together,” she said. “It is a tradition for the town to celebrate every year, so it’s great to see us get the weather for it again this year.”
The celebrations spanned over the whole weekend, featuring a classic cars show, multiple barbecues, a fireworks show, a kids’ zone, monster truck rides among other activities. Community and protective services worker Carla Spampinato said the town tries to offer events so no one is left bored. She said she was happy to see more than 1,000 Redcliff residents and Hatters in the town for the festivities.
“It’s a great free event for the whole family, for people of all ages, and we really try to offer something for everyone,” she said.
At the June 12 town council meeting, Mayor Ernie Reimer said he was looking forward to this year’s event.
“This is a really big weekend for the town,” said Reimer. “We get a lot of people here having a good time for the whole weekend — I’m really looking forward to it.”
The events concluded Sunday with more monster truck rides and a free Father’s Day swim at the Aquatic Centre.
