Bail denied for man facing multiple offences across southern Alberta

Bail was denied Tuesday to a Lethbridge man charged after multiple thefts from change machines at carwashes.

Cory Hagan appeared before the Medicine Hat Court by CCTV from the Lethbridge Remand Centre for a bail hearing, with the judge agreeing with the Crown that he should remain in custody.

The 35-year old was arrested and charged following a Nov. 22 incident where he allegedly stole funds from a change machine in a Medicine Hat carwash. Hagan has also been charged with theft under $5,000 for two other similar incidents at carwashes in Claresholm that occurred Nov. 25, and in June of this year.

Hagan also faces charges in Medicine Hat for fraud related charges over false identities, uttering forged documents and possessing credit card information not belonging to him.

This is alongside more charges from Claresholm, after he and three others were arrested in a stolen car, and in the car found numerous weapons, stolen property and drugs.

Hagan’s next appearance for the Medicine Hat charges will be July 11, with his Claresholm charges to return to Fort McLeod court on July 12.

Drug charges

Three people arrested in early June following a police investigation into drug trafficking had brief appearances in court Tuesday.

Levi Aebig — charged with four counts of trafficking heroin, four counts of trafficking meth, possessing the proceeds of crime, possessing a prohibited weapon and three counts of breaching a firearms prohibition order, will next appear July 6 with plans for a bail hearing.

Michael Lariviere, charged with one count of trafficking meth and possession of proceeds of crime, also had his matters adjourned to July 6.

Jay Brodie, charged with trafficking meth, possessing proceeds of crime, possessing stolen property, possessing a dangerous weapon and two probation breaches, had his matters adjourned to Aug. 8 as he seeks legal counsel.
