Medicine Hat’s youth movement
There’s a youth movement happening in Medicine Hat, with young professionals, designers and artists choosing Medicine Hat as the best place in Alberta to advance their careers.
Recently we have been speaking with talented young professionals about why they picked Medicine Hat to start and grow their careers. We spoke with young lawyers, accountants and architects who have made partner or own their own successful firms before their 35th birthday, or in some cases before their 30th.
We touched base with graphic designers and photographers about how they are reaching global markets from their home base in Canada’s sunniest city. And we sat down with ceramic artists who have established their international practices based on successful residencies at the Shaw International Centre for Contemporary Ceramics.
In conversations with this disparate group of young professionals, we identified a trend worth mentioning. Medicine Hat’s current mini-boom — driven by energy, petrochemicals and commercial construction — has resulted in increased opportunities across the board. People are moving to Medicine Hat. Add in non-existent commute times, top-notch leisure facilities, and 330 hours of sunshine, and Medicine Hat’s quality of life stands up to anywhere in North America.
Across the board, Medicine Hat is an amazing option when it comes to starting and growing a professional and creative services career. Affordability and a healthy local economy have contributed to Medicine Hat’s emergence as a top destination for young professionals, designers, and artists looking to start and grow their careers.
