Sentencing for a man who pled guilty to trafficking methamphetamine has been adjourned to late September.

Defence counsel for Travis McNab requested the adjournment Tuesday, so a Gladue report could be put together for consideration during sentencing.

McNab entered guilty pleas in March to a drug trafficking charge after undercover police made two separate purchases of $200 in meth from him in April and May of 2016. He also pled guilty to failing to report to probation, and possession of a dangerous weapon after a traffic stop by police, where there was a club visible in his vehicle.

At the time, a presentencing report was requested. This report has since been completed but the court heard it suggested a Gladue would also be appropriate. A Gladue report is like a PSR, but specifically focuses on suggested that a Gladue report would be appropriate. This type of PSR can be used by a judge when considering sentencing an aboriginal offender.

McNab’s sentencing is now set for Sept. 28.

Drug trafficking

Brief court appearances were made Tuesday by three people arrested alongside several others in June following a two-month investigation into drug trafficking.

Jay Brodie, charged with trafficking meth, possessing proceeds of crime, possessing stolen property, possessing a dangerous weapon and two probation breaches, had his matters adjourned to Aug. 22, having now retained counsel since his previous appearance on July 4.

Tammie Helem was granted an adjournment to Aug. 15. Helem is charged with trafficking meth, trafficking heroin and possessing meth for the purpose of trafficking.

Wrayne Wawia requested an adjournment to Sept. 12. Wawia faces two counts of trafficking meth, two counts of trafficking cocaine and proceeds of crime. A warrant had been issued for Wawia’s arrest when police announced the charges against all the others, and he has since being taken into — and remaining — in custody.

Overall, the police investigation resulted in 11 arrests and the seizure of about $10,000 in meth, heroin, cocaine and marijuana.
