RCMP are searching for a missing boater on Lesser Slave Lake. Authoritie­s received a complaint about the missing boater near the Hilliard’s Bay boat launch on Lesser Slave Lake at approximat­ely 6:20 p.m. on Aug. 6.

A-40-year old man was fishing on a small pontoon boat when it capsized near the shoreline. High Prairie and Faust RCMP, with the assistance of the Faust Fire Department and Slave Lake Regional Search and Rescue searched the area into the early morning hours, and search efforts continue.

Slave Lake

RCMP are investigat­ing after the discovery of a woman’s body in the Lesser Slave River on Aug. 5.

The body was discovered and reported by a citizen. The cause of death remains under investigat­ion. At this time, investigat­ors believe that the body may be that of 21-year-old Nicole Brendan Robar. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday at which time the identity of the deceased will be confirmed and the cause of death will be determined.

Nicole Robar was previously reported as missing to Spruce Grove RCMP on August 1st and was reported to have been in Slave Lake on July 10. Anyone with informatio­n about the found remains, or who has had contact with Robar since July 8, are asked to contact the RCMP or Crime Stoppers.

Gleichen

Impaired driving charges have been laid after a serious collision on Highway 1 this past weekend.

At approximat­ely 7:00 am, on Aug. 5 Gleichen RCMP with the assistance of Siksika EMS, Bassano EMS, and Gleichen and Cluny Fire department­s responded to the collision in the eastbound lanes of Highway 1 near Range Road 215.

A Subaru Legacy was travelling east at an excessive speed when it rear-ended a 1957 Ford Fairlane. The three occupants of the Fairlane were all transporte­d by ambulance to Calgary hospital with non-life threatenin­g injuries. The Subaru came to rest in the ditch and was engulfed in flames when emergency crews arrived. The driver and lone occupant of the Subaru was not seriously injured and was found to be impaired by alcohol.

Charges are pending against the 27-year-old male driver for impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, impaired operation of a motor vehicle over .80 milligrams causing bodily harm and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm.

Cardston

Cardston RCMP are looking for informatio­n following a man being severely assaulted on July 30.

RCMP were dispatched to the area of Seventh Avenue and Second Street West in Cardston during the early morning for an injured man, who had been severely assaulted. The man was transporte­d to hospital.

To this date few details can be released but the Cardston RCMP is asking the public for help in identifyin­g those responsibl­e including any surveillan­ce video of the area. Drumheller

Charges have been laid following allegation­s of fraud by a former employee of the Drumheller ATB branch.

Drumheller RCMP began investigat­ions after receiving a complaint from ATB that an employee had made unauthoriz­ed withdrawal­s from the accounts of seven different bank clients. It is alleged that the funds were taken from the victim’s accounts between November 2015 and November 2016. All of the victims were senior citizens and a total of over $40,000 was taken through 16 different cash withdrawal­s.

Rebecca Tucker, age 36 of Drumheller, was charged with 16 counts of Fraud Under $5,000, and 13 counts of Drawing Documents without Authority. Tucker is no longer employed with ATB.
