10-months for trafficking out of notorious drug house
A Medicine Hat man will serve 10 months in jail for drug trafficking that occurred in connection with the notorious drug house on Aberdeen Street shut down multiple times by police.
Allen Glebe, 52, was arrested following a police investigation where they were tipped off he was trafficking prescription drugs out of the residence.
Police conducted surveillance and observed a transaction, proceeding to arrest Glebe and another individual. When Glebe was arrested he was found in possession of hydromorphine, meth and two cellphones. No money was ever exchanged for the transactions.
Another month was added to the 10-month sentence for multiple times Glebe failed to appear in court as required.
As reported previously in the News, the Aberdeen Street residence has been a point of strife for the neighbourhood, despite efforts by police, neighbours, family members of the owner, and court orders that have led to it being seized twice. The homeowner passed away in July, with family now sorting out what comes next for the residence.
Drug charges
It was a brief appearance and adjournment for a Medicine Hat man facing four counts of trafficking heroin, four counts of trafficking meth, possessing the proceeds of crime, possessing a prohibited weapon and three counts of breaching a firearms prohibition order.
Levi Aebig appeared by closed-circuit TV from the Medicine Hat Remand Centre, with his lawyer adjourning until Aug. 22.
Aebig was arrested alongside several others in June following a police investigation into drug trafficking.
He was denied bail by a judge on July 6, but a bail review before a Court of Queen’s Bench judge is set for Thursday.
Also arrested as part of the investigation was Tammie Helem, whose defence counsel requested an adjournment on Tuesday until Sept. 7, as they have received disclosure and the Crown’s position to look at.
The police investigation resulted in 11 arrests and the seizure of about $10,000 in meth, heroin, cocaine and marijuana.
