Slave Lake

Slave Lake RCMP have charged two people with second degree murder after the body of a 21-yearold woman was recovered from the Lesser Slave River on Aug. 5

Nicole Robar was reported missing on Aug. 1, with her body being recovered on Aug. 5, her death being deemed suspicious. Investigat­ion by police has lead to Warren Kyle Warren, age 34, of Slave Lake and Jessica Melinda Davis. age 27, of Spruce Grove have both been charged with second degree murder and indignity to human remains.

Calmer

One man was arrested and charged after allegedly running over a person who attempted to stop him while driving impaired.

Leduc RCMP were called to Calmer on Sunday Aug. 13, for a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian. Witnesses described to police how the victim tried to stop the suspected impaired driver of a pickup truck after the truck was involved in a minor collision with another vehicle. The driver of the pickup truck fled the area with the victim still holding onto the truck before he fell to the ground and was run over by the driver who did not stop.

The victim sustained injuries to his mid-section and was transporte­d to the University of Alberta hospital by ambulance.

A witness took photos of the truck’s license plate, leading police to locate the vehicle and arrest the man.

Zachary Dingman, age 30, has been charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Bodily Harm, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Bodily Harm, Failure To Stop or Remain at an Accident, and Criminal Negligence Causing Bodily Harm.

High River

Three people in a stolen vehicle led police on a pursuit in the early morning of Aug. 11, that stretched from Calgary down to Vulcan, and resulted in a small grassfire.

Calgary police notified Okotoks RCMP of a stolen Ford F-350 heading their way at 2:30 a.m. on that day.

Okotoks and High River detachment­s located the vehicle, which was being monitored by the HAWCS helicopter, on Highway 2. A spike belt was deployed which deflated two of the vehicle tires just north of High River. The vehicle then turned off of Highway 2 towards the town of High River where two passengers in the vehicle exited and attempted to hide from police. With assistance from HAWCS helicopter, RCMP officers were able to locate and arrest the man and woman without incident.

The stolen truck continued into the town of High River then headed East on Highway 23, towards Vulcan.

A second spike belt was deployed south of Vulcan resulting in the other two tires being deflated. The driver of the truck still continued southbound and sparks from the ignited a fire in the ditch along Highway 23 near the village of Champion. Champion volunteer fire department were contacted and attended to extinguish the fire.

The stolen truck eventually stopped after it caught fire and was unable to continue on the rims. The driver, a 35-year-old male from Calgary was arrested without further incident.

The driver was found to be on statutory release and has been returned to the custody of Correction­al Services Canada, now facing charges of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property and flight from police.

The passengers face a charge of possession of stolen property over $5,000.

Grande Prairie

RCMP are investigat­ing after a man threatened a woman and her child, requiring her to drive him across the city to a motel.

The incident occurred on Aug. 11 at approximat­ely 1 p.m., when the woman and her child were approached by the unknown man who asked her if she needed assistance putting her belongings in her vehicle. The woman declined, and the man proceeded to threaten her and demand she drive him to a north side motel. The man was dropped off in this area of the city and took off on foot.

The man is described as being Caucasian, 5’5, have long blonde hair, a left forearm tattoo that says “family,” lower lip tattoo that says “(expletive) you shelley” and another tattoo on his forehead.
